Siege crashing out of control

Sorry, I do not mean to be a downer here. Last night, during the 10pm EDT siege war, I think we all experienced what one could only characterize as 'out of control' crashing. I completely reset my PC prior to siege, which tends to help. We all experience a crash now and then in siege. Last night, 9 crashes. Client would crash upon reentering siege, as soon as I took a step. Was crashing in mid air, upon respawn after a kill. At one point, was killed, as before I could respawn, client crashed. The guild we were going against appeared to be dealing with the same issue.

I'm not sure whether the issue was related to the resources on the siege server or if there is a bug in the current client, or both.

Anything that can be done, please let's do it. Siege, the part of this game many people enjoy more than any other, was about unplayable last night.

We are nudging a sysadmin for reboots in castle and siege zone. Castle reboot complete, siege reboot underway.

Perhaps, but we did note that certain people were subject to these crash fests, while others were not. So, may not necessarily be related to server side issues. I hope it is and I hope that server reboots will help.
My wife, sitting next to me crashed not at all, whilst I crashed...well, I stopped counting after 6. Managed to log back in the last 2 minutes, but stayed in the castle not moving...

If nothing else, we can hope to rule it out?

How to not crash in Siege:

Play with every setting at the most minimum, except for View distance. Put that at 3/4.

I made a copy of the RoM folder in /Programs. So I have "/Programs/Runes of Magic" and "/Programs Runes of Siege". The 2nd client has barebones for addons. Like 10 compared to 25-35 from my 'regular' client.

This way I rarely crash running up to 5 clients if opponents show up.

Just saying, because 2 crashes a Siege I already consider a bad night. I used to record Siege War, so I wanted a nice 1 hr video.

The whole RoM folder, executable and all? Why didn't I think of that? /slap....runs off to make copies.

Cause, yeah, having two different add-ons folders was just not a good fix. Thanks

Yeah man, everything. I used to do the two folder thing. But I got tired of having to rename them before SW.

Just made two separate folders and pinned to task bar. I know which one is which.

Anyway, does this mean you use a small amount of addons in SW already and still crash twice a day? Damn dude... What about your graphics settings? View Distance?

I was using the two add-on folder method and swapping out but got tired of having to re-do my settings, so have been doing seige with all add-ons active. Visual settings at minimum with view distance about 75%. Crashing twice during seige is about normal with that set-up.

It's not funny when the entire Item Preview data set goes away just because you pull the folder to desktop. Makes no sense to me, but it happens.

I don't crash often in siege, only 1 or 2 on a bad night. I have minimum graphics settings, about 3/4 view distance, same as you guys. My laptop is only capable of running 2 clients, maybe 3 if the third window is shrunk ctrl+ z looking at the ground. But I still siege with about 20 add-ons active

I'm curious to know if maybe it could be an add-on that changes the UI or display/layout such as X-Bar? I don't have any such thing. That's my immediate thought if an add-on may be conflicting.

I did magios' thing with the additional client folder last night....I recognize it is just one data point...but, I did not crash at all. Can't recall if i removed Xbar or not, I'll have to check later, I love the functionality of Xbar, but it is not a necessity.

Yes, I had removed x-bar.

Basically just DIYCE, Target, Guildseigequiktrade, Cenedrilhelper, Titleist, and Warrecord.

I guess nobody bothered posting. But last night a lot of people had the same problem.

Half our guild and half the opposing guild couldn't stop crashing. Also world shouts from other guilds.

Yes, I knew there was going to be a problem when I saw 6 people, including myself crash on entering screen, then multiple crashes throughout seige whether up front fighting or just hanging in the castle.

They rebooted the siege zone this morning. Here's hoping it stuck throughout the day.

Are they looking into it further tho? It seems like it needs more than just a reboot...

Or they should just schedule weekly reboots.

We have seen this before....I think we used to blame it on the Fire Festival.

And no-one really wanted to believe it when we asserted that it wasn't the fest.

They are. It's clearly a global problem, and tied to issues with the guild castles. I don't think we have a solution.

I guess I'm content as long as it's been looked into. Ty Heron.
